Producer Notes 2015

75% Antão Vaz, 20% Arinto, 5% Roupeiro

Let there be "Sossego" [peace], for a secret of the Alentejo is about to be revealed. Let there be calm, time and quiet to enjoy the body and soul of Vidigueira at the table. Let there be Alentejo Sossego to create space away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and to feel the uniqueness of the rolling plains of the Herdade do Peso estate, the distinctive place where this wine is born. Hear it, breathe it, savour it unhurriedly. The name says it all.

Produced at Herdade do Peso, with grapes from selected vineyard sites. After ripening assessments, the grapes were harvested separately at their optimum point of aromatic and acidic ripeness. Destemming and gentle pressing followed. Then static decanting and after 24 hours, racking to fermentation vats, where the wine fermented at 16ºC for 16 days. The final blend was made with these three wines, always keeping in mind the intended final balance.

After alcoholic fermentation, the wines remained in the vat for around 3 months, with removal of the lees toincrease complexity. The final blend was prepared on the basis of a qualitative selection and its balance. It underwent fining, stabilisation and filtration before bottling.

Harvest Year
The 2015 wine-growing year started with a lot of rain, evolving into a dry and cold winter. Spring was drier than in previous years, with some occasional rain having helped in the favourable development of the vine. Summer was marked by hot, dry weather. The typical cool nights of the Vidigueira region were slow to arrive, which meant a more thorough job of selecting the fruit was required to ensure we harvested it with the desired ripeness. The wines were very balanced and tasty, at the end of the process.

Tasting Notes
Very attractive golden colour with greenish hues. In the nose, aromas of citrus blossom stand out among pear and some peach. On the palate, it has a smooth attack, with volume, the presence of white fruit and a lively acidity, ensuring a long and fresh finish. It can be consumed straight after bottling and will reach its full quality potential one to two years later.
Ideal to be served on its own or as an aperitif. It is an excellent accompaniment to various fish and white meat dishes and a variety of salads. Should be served between 9ºC and 11ºC.

Alcohol: 13%
